Dog Poop Clean-up
It's strange how different things strike you as you go about your day. My hub today is about, of all things, dog poop.
I'm walking my daughter home from school and in front of us was a woman with her dog. The dog suddenly yanks her to the side of a yard and does his business. The woman does the right thing as a good citizen and cleans it up off the lawn.... something I'm sure the homeowner will appreciate.
As I continued walking I began thinking to myself how 20 years ago nobody would have ever in their wildest dreams taken their hand (inside a disposable dog poop bag of course) and cleaned up dog poop. They may have run for a shovel but never actually picked it up with their hands.
Why am I even talking about this????
Anyway, when I had a dog as a kid the animal pretty much took care of itself. There were no walks, fancy bedding or dog clothes etc.. I couldn't even begin to imagine my mom or dad taking a plastic bag around and grabbing the dog poop up off the grass. Heck, I don't think anyone would pick up human excrement even if I paid them $10 to do it. But the dog owners of today are willing to do it. Why do you suppose people would be willing to cleanup dog poop for free but if it were human poop they would tell you no way? Perhaps a topic for a future hub. I'm sure you'll be looking for that one.
It's amazing how well people take care of and cleanup after their pets these days. Our pets offer us so much companionship and joy we willingly do things (like cleaning up dog poop) to own them.

When I grew up dogs pretty much ran loose and nobody cleaned up after them. Now most communities have ordinaces tha requir dogs be on leshes and that owner clean up after them. It is for the good. I'll admit I had a hard time fiuring out how to do it. Most of us dog owners now seem to alsways have plastic bags in our pockets. However, ther are some who do not clean up after theri dogs and that gives teh rest of us a bad name.
